Labor Day Weekend
Another few wonderful days on Fire Island.
The weather has been beautiful, clear, warm and the color of the ocean has been spectacular!
The water has a clear, almost Caribbean, aqua color.
Labor Day has arrived and the summer activities will wind down, but this beach will be like this for another four weeks or so.
Hope you enjoy your Labor Day!

Prague Evening
~~~
Sorry I haven't posted any Long Island photos lately. I've been away.
This image above is just one of the many I took in Prague.
My husband and I took a two week vacation to
the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary.
It was quite the experience.
The most interesting part for me, was hearing about the time of Communist rule.
Our tour guides were women and men who were old enough to remember what it was like to live under a Communist government and explained to us how their lives changed in the past 20 years.
Very interesting.
It made me realize, once again, how fortunate we really are, here in the USA!
We enjoyed a day sailing and of course, I had my camera.
A few shots were taken with the Nikon fisheye lens.
spinnaker to home
Beautiful day today and the perfect day for a sail.
We went sailing with our friends, swam in the Great South Bay, and sailed home using the spinnaker.
Just a perfect day!
wooden sailing vessel
A wooden mast on a Cat Boat, a type of sail boat.
These rings slide up the mast as the sail is raised.
This is just one of the beautiful pieces of workmanship seen at the
wooden boats
This weekend, the Long Island Maritime Museum in West Sayville sponsored the Antique and Wooden Boat Show and Regatta.
The workmanship and quality of boats was amazing to see!
Wooden boats are so much a part of Long Island's nautical history.
If you have not been to the Maritime Museum recently, make the trip.
There is something of interest for everyone.
There are always antique and wooden boats to see, although this weekend was a special event with extra volunteers, food concessions and additional boats and engine displays.
Some boats traveled from far distances to be part of this year's event.
Mark your calendar for next year and check the website for all other information .
Deer on Fire Island
We went to the beach today, Fire Island at Davis Park,
and there in the sand dunes, just eating the vegetation,
was this deer.
I don't know what happened to his antlers,
but he seemed healthy and well fed.
~~~
It was a beautiful day... strong, cool breezes and large, active waves.
