I agree with you Alida on the mark. It is a tick. I magnified the photo with the zoom function in my computer. When I was in basic training in Mo. in the early 70s, we had ticks all over us. That's what they look like though this one on the fox seems rather large but the shape and those legs out in front are undeniable.
