D-Day, June 6th 1944

vic cortner

Do not forget the invasion of Normandy, 1944.
The men who were there, lived with that traumatic experience their entire lives.
They are now in their 90s, if they have not yet died of old age, but the memories of June 6th are burned in their hearts and minds and will never be forgotten.

Bill in fatigues

Bill in fatigues, originally uploaded by Alida's Photos. This image is not for sale.

My father-in-law, William H Thorpe, died last week Oct. 30, 2010.
He was in the 446th bomb group during WWII stationed in England.
He never talked about it.
We found his war time photos and I'm so sorry I didn't ask more questions when I could.

Thursday is Veteran's Day.
If you have the opportunity, talk to a Veteran.

Hope you enjoy the Memorial Day weekend!
Always a good start to summer but the most important part of this holiday is remembering the lives lost, and the sacrifices our servicemen/women and their families, have made for our country.
Thank you, thank you.
It can never be said enough!
