North Fork Wineries grape vine
~
We took a car ride out to the North Fork Wineries and made a few stops to sample some Long Island wines.
I volunteered to be the designated driver so I kept busy by photographing the grape vines and scenery.
A few vines still had their dark red/purple grapes.
Luckily hurricane Irene did not spoil the grapes although you could see the salt water damage on the grape leaves.
It was a beautiful day for a drive and it always amazes me at the vast areas of agricultural land still there on the east end.

Drive to the north fork, LI

We took a ride out east to the north fork this week. The weather has not been great but we needed a change of scenery. This winery is in Jamesport, a beautiful area of farms and vineyards. People often stop at the wineries for "wine tasting" events, but it's really an excuse to be out in the more rural areas of Long Island.

Claudio's in Greenport is another summer destination.
Walk through the old town and stop and have lunch on the dock of Claudio's.
It's a nice way to spend the day!

Winter on the North Fork

A wonderful ride out east, on a sunny day, showed us the winter beauty of the North Fork.
The grapes are gone, but the winery has many winter chores to do in preparation of the season's harvest.

train tracks

On the tracks....
~~~~~~~~
I know I have been very neglectful lately, not posting here daily like I use to do.
Well, there are no excuses; I've just been busy.
With what, you ask?
It seems that photography, Photoshop, the web, and my contacts in the cyber-community have taken all my free time!
I spend free time taking photos, then working with them on the computer in Photoshop.
I post to my Flickr and PBase accounts first, daily.
But there are even more groups and sites where I am a member.
Check my sidebar! -->
Each site has people I've gotten to know (contacts) and discussion groups (forums) where we talk about everything! Everything and anything...I'm addicted!
I get involved, answer some questions or give my opinion....and there! The time passes too quickly.
I rarely read a novel anymore. My current reading material is all about photography and Photoshop (the digital darkroom).
So, here I am posting after almost one week.
It's not a complaint, just an apology to those friends and family members out there who were hoping for something good to read and an interesting photo or two.
Have a great weekend!
